Combo’ Smoothie

One of the benefits of making your own smoothie is that not only do you have control over the ingredients but also over the taste!

The ingredients in the photograph combine to make a true utility drink which can be consumed any time of the day (breakfast / post exercise etc).

Not only does it taste fantastic but it also contains plenty of protein and detoxifying properties – remember “the darker the green, the better the clean”.

Ingredients :-

homemade almond milk

raw kale (handful)

raw spinach (handful)

raw carrot x 1

banana x 1

raw cacao (I use paste for a ‘dark’ taste)

spirulina

hemp powder

wheatgrass

maca

flax seeds

Enjoy!

Raw Chocolate Recipe

Christmas is coming and let’s face it, we are all going to be eating chocolate!

However, there is an easy way of reducing the guilt factor and that’s by making your own chocolate – it’s ridiculously simple.

Ingredients:-

100g raw cacao butter

50g raw cacao powder

1 tbsp raw agave

Step 1

Drop your butter into a glass ‘pyrex’ jug and let this stand in a saucepan of boiling water. Stir the butter for 5 minutes until it’s completely melted.

Step 2

Remove the jug from the saucepan and add the powder and agave and stir thoroughly.

Step 3

For best results I would suggest pouring the mixture into an ice cube tray as this provides an even amount of chocolate per cube. Leave to stand in the fridge for approximately 30 minutes and you should have something that resembles the photo!!

Step 4

Consume!!

PS: I have added hemp seeds to the chocolate in the photo, you can experiment by adding raw cacao paste (darker chocolate), almond milk (for ‘milk’ chocolate). If you want to experiment with different flavours and textures then try adding lime juice, chilli flakes, raw ginger shavings, hemp seeds or chia seeds.
